My Thoughts

I see-sawed a bit at the beginning of this book but then…wham…I got pulled into it and didn’t stop until the end. The plot of this book is a bit different and the heroine is a LOT different from your normal mystery. Miranda was abused by her cop ex-husband. After she was brutally raped, he demanded that she get an abortion. When she refused, he waited until the baby was three weeks old and then, somehow, used his law enforcement background to put the baby up for adoption without her knowledge. When she learned what he had done, she attacked him for the first time. After he threw her out of the house, she tried to find her child going through legal channels.

Miranda was married but her husband was an abusive cop and got away with it. He takes her baby and gives her up for adoption and then throws Miranda out. After thirteen years of searching for her daughter, Miranda gets a call from a reunion agency. They receive a letter from a girl looking for her birth parents. She’s in Atlanta so that’s where Miranda goes next. She gets a job on a road crew and starts her search. When Miranda is accused of killing a young girl, Parker shows up. Parker owns a detective agency and is asked to find a missing girl. He offers Miranda a job after the charges are dismissed. Can they find a killer before he strikes again?   I am giving this 5 stars, I really enjoyed it and I recommend it.
