The Most Anticipated Novels Out This Winter

Hello and welcome to my book corner.  Its Saturday and I hope that everyone had a great week.  As for me it was a busy work week, and now for the weekend.  I still have some decorating to do for the holidays and I need to finish my Christmas cards.  I was searching for a good book and I came across this post from Amazon about the Most anticipated read from Amazon Charts.   So I thought I would share it with you all.

Cozy up with winter’s most essential reads, according to Amazon Charts pre-order data

Much of the country is already pulling out the hats and scarves, and the long, dark days have gotten plenty of readers in the mood to settle in with a good book. Based on pre-orders of print, audio, and Kindle eBook editions, these are the eight most anticipated reads in fiction this winter.

People seem to be eager for a little suspense, but in addition to new mysteries, you’ll find a young adult fantasy novel that picks up where the best-selling first book left off and a charming story of a little bookshop in Paris.

It’s a great time to hunker down in a cozy spot with a book or two to make the cold winter days a little brighter.

Children of Virtue and Vengeance

Tomi Adeyemi’s debut novel, Children of Blood and Bone, exploded onto best-seller lists last year, as her bold world-building and diverse characters brought a fresh and original voice to young adult fantasy. The book has also gained a large adult following as well. It was selected as the first book of Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show summer reads book club and won a spot on our own Amazon Editors’ Top 20 Best Books of 2018 list. Readers have been eagerly awaiting the sequel, Children of Virtue and Vengeance, and Adeyemi deftly catches readers up again without being obvious about it, something rarely done and the hallmark of an exceptional sequel. The battle for equality in a world of magic and corruption continues, and in book two things get increasingly complex and exciting. Jump back into the action, suspense, and Orisha magic on December 3, 2019.

What Are you reading?

🌺 Hello

and welcome to my little corner, It’s a beautiful day here in the Sunshine state. I have finished a few books this past week, so I thought I would share them with you.  And now on the post.

It’s an opportunity to visit and comment and er… add to your groaning TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn here at The Book Date.  So I thought I would try it and see if I could keep up with it and share what I am reading and planning on reading.

What I read last week:

You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement – a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love.
You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle.
Assume nothing.

Twisted and deliciously chilling, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen’s The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage – and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

A Mother’s Lie By:  Jo Crow51VOes5K14L._SY346_

When her child’s life is at stake, a mother will do anything to save him.

Clara McNair is running out of time to save her son, James. When the two-year-old is diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer, only an experimental treatment can save his life. She desperately needs money to pay for the surgery, but she’ll have to travel back to the site of her darkest memories to get it.

Clara has escaped the demons of her youth—or so she thinks. It’s been ten years since the mysterious disappearance of her parents. Widely suspected of murdering her mother and father, Clara fled west to start a new life. Now, a documentary film crew is offering cold, hard cash—enough to pay for James’s treatment—in exchange for the sordid secrets of her past.

With no other choice but to delve into a long-ago tragedy, Clara must unravel the lies surrounding that terrible night. Facing hostile gossip, Clara is fighting to clear her name and learn the truth about what really happened. But how far will she go into the dark to save her son—and herself?

NOTE: Books in the ‘Secrets of Suburbia’ Series can be read as standalones, but are linked by common themes of motherhood, suburbia not being as safe as you think, and how the perfect, sanitized version of life that people often show is far from the truth. Gripping stories with shocking twists just a click away.

Nellie couldn’t say what woke her.  But when she opened her eyes, a woman wearing her white lacey wedding gown stood by the foot of her bed, looking down at her.

Nellie’s throat closed around a scream, and she lunged for the baseball bat leaning against her nightstand.  Then her vision adjusted to the grainy dawn light and the pounding of her heart softened.

She let out a tight laugh as she realized she was safe.

My Review

I was in between books and I started searching on Kindle unlimited to see what I could find.  I love psychological thrillers and this one caught my eye.  It’s the first that I have read from this author and it won’t be my last.

In John Nicholl’s latest book, The Girl in White, he touches on a subject that is different than the typical psychological thriller….cults. It was a very engaging and different book.

Harry is going through a break-up. As he is drowning his sorrows is a local bar, a beautiful woman approaches. Immediately grabbing his attention, she lures him with her beauty and they end up planning future dates. Before he realizes what is going on, he is drugged and wakes up in a very unfamiliar place.

And then there is the Master, he jumps and they ask how high?  They believe all that he tells them.

This book was fascinating! I am giving it 5 stars.  And I will be looking for more from this author.

AUTHOR BIOG

Aspiring writer, entrepreneur… adult. The one vocation Kathryn has successfully nailed so far is Daydreamer. Her varied ambitions and overall life trajectory has taken a bit of a turn of late. A born-and-bred Londoner, Kathryn is discovering there is more to life than the corporate rat race. It began with a six-month trip through South America whetting her travelling wanderlust, which led to the decision to quit her job as a management consultant.

More recently she upped the adventure ante, swapping city life for the wilderness,  on an ambitious walk hundreds of miles along America’s Pacific Crest Trail. The plan raised eyebrows from all who knew her – an uncharacteristic leap for a girl who refuses to sleep on the floor. The results were both brutal and awe-inspiring.

Kathryn has never been an ‘outdoorsy’ person. But the simple, reflective, time spent in the natural environment left a deep imprint. She still (reluctantly) resides in London, but the mountains are calling. She may even camp again. Someday.

My Thoughts

A good read about Hiking from Northern California through to Canada.  This is not my normal style of reading, but I am opened to new read.

This book is about The Unlikeliest Backpacker describes an epic adventure. Kathryn Barnes and her husband, Conrad Nicholas, decide to abandon their one bedroom flat in London and head for the great outdoors. They plan to hike the 935 miles from northern California, through Oregon and Washington, to the Canadian border – all along the Pacific Crest Trail (a sort of path that varies in quality, and varies in altitude from sea level to 7,000 feet).

Both Kathryn and her husband endure challenges along the way and share their experience with others that they meet along the way and with the readers.  Although this not something that I would do, but I really enjoyed reading this and learning more about their adventures.  Congrats to Kathryn and her husband for completing this epic adventure and thanks for sharing your adventure with those who have read this book.

Thanks to Love Books Group, Kathryn and the publisher for the advance ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
