My Thoughts:

I belong to a couple of Facebook book Groups and this book was mentioned. Okay, so I’ve never heard I’d Christopher Greyson before, but he’s on my radar now    So I went to my Kindle Unlimited to see if I could find this book and yes it was there so I downloaded it.  It’s the first I have read anything from the author and it won’t be my last.  This was a great read and had me at the edge of my seat and I didn’t want to stop reading.  I had to find out who killed Stacy Shaw.

The story line was amazing and it had twist and turns that kept me want to solve who did it.  I would never have guessed the ending. A must read for everyone. I will definitely being reading other books by this author”, which I have downloaded a few already.  I highly recommend this to all that enjoys Thrillers, Mystery.  I am giving this a 5 stat rating.

Growing Only Dandelions” is an inspirational story of a woman who has a near-death experience that propels her on a spiritual and emotional journey. This unconventional supernatural manuscript dares the reader to consider the possibility of a present and loving God through a narrative that triggers one’s imagination to question every action and inaction.Bethany, a wife and mother, is enjoying a beautiful day at the beach with her family. She falls asleep while her husband and son swim in the ocean. Awakened by the winds of an approaching storm, Bethany is alarmed by how dangerous the water has turned. She frantically searches for her family before rushing to the water and jumping into it. Bethany struggles against the treacherous waters and slams her head against a reef on the ocean’s floor. Falling unconscious, Bethany says “I never saw a more brilliant light.”Bethany opens her eyes in heaven and her spiritual and emotional journey begins. She is escorted through a long corridor by a man insisting that she must see “Him” right away. They swiftly walk alongside an endless stream of people shuffling forward slowly in a single filed line. Some of them are curious and reach out their arms to touch the woman being chaperoned to the front of the line. Upon contact, their “ugliness” (i.e., personal, shameful life event) is revealed to Bethany. A person calls out to her by name. Bethany recognizes that it is the voice of her estranged father. Her hatred towards him is palpable. He steps off the line and touches her wrist transporting her mind back in time to when her “ugliness” started as a young child from his abuse. Throughout the novel, Bethany is transported back in time to those milestone moments in her life that shaped her own “ugliness”. Growing Only Dandelions highlights the presence of God through strategically placed relationships, purposely left “signs” and guardian angels, all of which are gifted to us through his grace.

Beneath a Scarlet Sky By: Mark Sullivan

Hello its Tuesday,

So what is everybody reading or maybe you have finished a good book.  Please fee free to share what you have read or are reading, I would love to see.  Who knows my TBR list may get even longer.

I have finished Mark Sullivan’s Beneath a Scarlet Sky, Barbara Copperthwaite’s Invisible and Christopher Greyson’s And Then She Was Gone, which all were great reads.  So I am a little behind in my reviews.  And I am currently reading Sally Rigby’s Deadly Games and following it with Fatal Justice.

So one to my review of Beneath a Scarlet Sky

Blurb:

Soon to be a major television event from Pascal Pictures, starring Tom Holland.

Based on the true story of a forgotten hero, the USA Today and #1 Amazon Charts bestseller Beneath a Scarlet Sky is the triumphant, epic tale of one young man’s incredible courage and resilience during one of history’s darkest hours.

Pino Lella wants nothing to do with the war or the Nazis. He’s a normal Italian teenager—obsessed with music, food, and girls—but his days of innocence are numbered. When his family home in Milan is destroyed by Allied bombs, Pino joins an underground railroad helping Jews escape over the Alps, and falls for Anna, a beautiful widow six years his senior.

In an attempt to protect him, Pino’s parents force him to enlist as a German soldier—a move they think will keep him out of combat. But after Pino is injured, he is recruited at the tender age of eighteen to become the personal driver for Adolf Hitler’s left hand in Italy, General Hans Leyers, one of the Third Reich’s most mysterious and powerful commanders.

Now, with the opportunity to spy for the Allies inside the German High Command, Pino endures the horrors of the war and the Nazi occupation by fighting in secret, his courage bolstered by his love for Anna and for the life he dreams they will one day share.

Fans of All the Light We Cannot SeeThe Nightingale, and Unbroken will enjoy this riveting saga of history, suspense, and love.

 A1gXoFES5FL._US230_ Mark Sullivan

Mark Sullivan is the acclaimed author of eighteen novels, including the #1 Kindle bestselling Beneath a Scarlet Sky, and the #1 New York Times bestselling Private series, which he writes with James Patterson. Mark has received numerous awards for his writing, including the WHSmith Fresh Talent Award, and his works have been named a New York Times Notable Book and a Los Angeles Times Book of the Year.

He grew up in Medfield, Massachusetts, and graduated from Hamilton College with a BA in English before working as a volunteer in the Peace Corps in Niger, West Africa.

Upon his return to the United States, he earned a graduate degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and began a career in investigative journalism. An avid skier and adventurer, he lives with his wife in Bozeman, Montana, where he remains grateful for the miracle of every moment.

My Thoughts:

I also read that this was going to be a major television event, and I hope that it will be on a local station, I would love to see it, after reading the book.

I kept hearing from others about this book, so I thought I would download it through Kindle and read it.  I have seen some of the reviews for this where they said it was like reading a comic book, I didn’t feel that.   This is the first book that I have read by Mark Sullivan and I am sure that it won’t be my last.  I loved learning about Pino and learning about Milan.  (Which I hope to visit one day)  Another thing added to my bucket list.

Pino Lello, 17 years of age, is wise beyond his years and intelligent, as well. It is a gripping story of resilience, the indomitable spirit of a young man that knew no boundaries and courage that sustained him during dark hours.   He is interested in girls and music and girls. He pays little attention to the Nazi occupation until the Allies start to bomb the city on a daily basis. His parents decide to send him to a boys school in the mountains that he has been to before, to keep him safe. He is anything but safe when he starts leading downed Allied pilots and people escaping from Italy to safety over a treacherous mountain route to Switzerland.

He is called home by his parents who insist that he join the German Army – they felt it was safer to be in the German Army than the Italian Army and despite his misgivings, he follows his parents orders. Once again, he puts himself in danger and works for the resistance while he is a member of the German Army. Well reading this I couldn’t understand why Pino kept putting himself in danger I wanted to jump inside the story line and shake him lol.  I was sad for him when the love of his live died.

I liked how the author of this book did me a favor in describing the true heroes of the war few will ever know about. I really enjoyed this book and I recommend it.

Rich People Problems (Crazy Rich Asians Trilogy) By: Kevin Kwan

Hello Hello

I have finished three books this past weekend, and I am here to share one of the reviews that I have finished.

About Book:

From the New York Times bestselling author of Crazy Rich Asians (now a MAJOR MOTION PICTURE) and China Rich Girlfriend, here is the uproarious conclusion to the Crazy Rich Asians Series.

Book Three of the Crazy Rich Asians Series

When Nicholas Young hears that his grandmother, Su Yi, is on her deathbed, he rushes to be by her bedside—but he’s not alone. The entire Shang-Young clan has convened from all corners of the globe to stake claim on their matriarch’s massive fortune. With each family member vying to inherit Tyersall Park—a trophy estate on 64 prime acres in the heart of Singapore—Nicholas’s childhood home turns into a hotbed of speculation and sabotage. As her relatives fight over heirlooms, Astrid Leong is at the center of her own storm, desperately in love with her old sweetheart Charlie Wu, but tormented by her ex-husband—a man hell bent on destroying Astrid’s reputation and relationship. Meanwhile Kitty Pong, married to China’s second richest man, billionaire Jack Bing, still feels second best next to her new step-daughter, famous fashionista Colette Bing. A sweeping novel that takes us from the elegantly appointed mansions of Manila to the secluded private islands in the Sulu Sea, from a kidnapping at Hong Kong’s most elite private school to a surprise marriage proposal at an Indian palace, caught on camera by the telephoto lenses of paparazzi, Kevin Kwan’s hilarious, gloriously wicked new novel reveals the long-buried secrets of Asia’s most privileged families and their rich people problems.

About Kevin Kwan

B1w7dVzIjuS._US230_ (1)

Kevin Kwan is the No. 1 New York Times bestselling author of Crazy Rich Asians, China Rich Girlfriend, and Rich People Problems. Crazy Rich Asians: The Movie has released worldwide by Warner Bros. on August 15th, 2018. Born in Singapore, Kevin has called New York’s West Village home since 1995.

My Thoughts:

In the concluding book of the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy, the center of attention actually falls on Shang Su Yi, the matriarch of the Young-Leong-Cheng families. She has fallen ill and with her death approaching, her entire family returns to Singapore.  I read the first two in the trilogy, I liked the second book better than the first one.  I also seen the movie to the first book, and thought it was a little on the dry side.  I thought the third book was okay, but some of the chapters were long and repetitive and I might add a little boring.  This one is good, and I am glad that I finished the series, but I found the plot just got to be too ridiculous and random and the characters to be unbelievable. After a long wait list from the library and finally getting the email that I could download, what a disappointment, I glad that borrowed it library instead of purchasing it, as I don’t think I will be reading it again.

In my opinion, I feel the author rushed this book, to finish his trilogy and didn’t take his time in this one.

Rich People is available to purchase via this universal Amazon link, which will take you straight to the Amazon page for your country of residence: mybook.to/ https://www.amazon.com/People-Problems-Crazy-Asians-Trilogy/dp/0385542232/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

Books I Want to Read

Hey All!

So I thought of doing a little blog post about the books that I want to read. Currently, I am reading Mark Sullivan’s Beneath A Scarlet Sky followed by Invisible by Barbara Copperthweaite, Don’t Blink by L.G. Davis and Florwers For the Dead by Barbara Copperthwaite. The list that I am going to put on the blog, I don’t have these books–I am planning to buy these books in near future and hopefully I will read the books!

So I will list out four books that I want to read or hoping to get my hands on that book.

1. The Wife between us–Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

The Wife Between Us

A novel of suspense that explores the complexities of marriage and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
You will assume you are reading about a jealous wife and her obsession with her replacement.
You will assume you are reading about a woman about to enter a new marriage with the man she loves.
You will assume the first wife was a disaster and that the husband was well rid of her.
You will assume you know the motives, the history, the anatomy of the relationships.
Assume nothing.

Discover the next blockbuster novel of suspense, and get ready for the read of your life.

As many of fellow bloggers know, I love reading thriller books, having read Gone Girl and the Girl on the Train books, especially the ones where that will make the reader sit on the edge of the seat. I am dying to read this book.

2. The Silent Wife–Kerry Fisher

The Silent Wife

Lara’s life looks perfect on the surface. Gorgeous doting husband Massimo, sweet little son Sandro and the perfect home. Lara knows something about Massimo. Something she can’t tell anyone else or everything Massimo has worked so hard for will be destroyed: his job, their reputation, their son. This secret is keeping Lara a prisoner in her marriage.

Maggie is married to Massimo’s brother Nico and lives with him and her troubled stepdaughter. She knows all of Nico’s darkest secrets – or so she thinks. The one day she discovers a letter in the attic which reveals a shocking secret about Nico’s first wife Caitlin. Will Maggie set the record straight or keep silent to protect those she loves?

For a family held together by lies, the truth will come at a devastating price.

A heart-wrenching, emotionally gripping read for fans of Amanda Prowse, Liane Moriarty and Diane Chamberlain

Another intense thriller which I am hoping to read.

3.  The Women in the Window

The Women in the Window

For readers of Gillian Flynn and Tana French comes one of the decade’s most anticipated debuts, to be published in thirty-six languages around the world and already in development as a major film from Fox: a twisty, powerful Hitchcockian thriller about an agoraphobic woman who believes she witnessed a crime in a neighboring house.

It isn’t paranoia if it’s really happening . . .

Anna Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times . . . and spying on her neighbors.

Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, a mother, their teenage son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble—and its shocking secrets are laid bare.

What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.

Twisty and powerful, ingenious and moving, The Woman in the Window is a smart, sophisticated novel of psychological suspense that recalls the best of Hitchcock.

4. We were the Lucky Ones–Georgia Hunter

We Were the Lucky Ones

Inspired by the incredible true story of one Jewish family separated at the start of World War II, determined to survive—and to reunite—We Were the Lucky Ones is a tribute to the triumph of hope and love against all odds

“Love in the face of global adversity? It couldn’t be more timely.” —Glamour

It is the spring of 1939 and three generations of the Kurc family are doing their best to live normal lives, even as the shadow of war grows closer. The talk around the family Seder table is of new babies and budding romance, not of the increasing hardships threatening Jews in their hometown of Radom, Poland. But soon the horrors overtaking Europe will become inescapable and the Kurcs will be flung to the far corners of the world, each desperately trying to navigate his or her own path to safety.

As one sibling is forced into exile, another attempts to flee the continent, while others struggle to escape certain death, either by working grueling hours on empty stomachs in the factories of the ghetto or by hiding as gentiles in plain sight. Driven by an unwavering will to survive and by the fear that they may never see one another again, the Kurcs must rely on hope, ingenuity, and inner strength to persevere.

An extraordinary, propulsive novel, We Were the Lucky Ones demonstrates how in the face of the twentieth century’s darkest moment, the human spirit can endure and even thrive.

Besides thrillers and mysteries, as many of you know, I am also into Holocaust and WWII. This book has sparked my interest and have been wanting to read this book.

Perfect Imperfections By: Taryn Leigh

Blurb:

Sarah Lewis desires nothing more than to begin again after a failed marriage and a tragedy so terrifying, it forces her to leave her life in London to stay with her best friend a world apart in South Africa.
Despite immediate success in her business, she struggles to understand who she really is and where she belongs in the world. So begins a journey of discovery as Sarah re-unites with Katy in the land where she was born, where the air is lavender scented, and weekends are spent cycling on the beach.
Until the day when she has to return to London to face the ghosts of her past and confront a situation that has grown more complicated in her absence.
Perfect Imperfections is an intriguing tale which hints at wrongdoings and deceit without giving too much away. The author cleverly weaves a tale around fragile yet strong Sarah as she tries to reconcile her past with her future, engaging the reader to the point where we simply want the best for her and for happiness finally to come her way.

My Thoughts:

WOW and double WOW.  What an amazing book.  I now want to visit South Africa, the way the author detailed it, in the story line I felt like I was there especially the way she detailed the country and oh my the food descriptions.

I was hooked from the beginning chapter to the last chapter. Perfect Imperfections has three main characters, Katy, Edward and Sarah.  Sara picks up, leaves her failed marriage and a tragedy, and leaves her life in London.   I so wanted to find out more about Sarah and why she was running from and way.  I loved how Katy and Sarah where friends as children and remained friends in their adult live.

Perfect Imperfections is a beautiful and captivating story of loss and heartbreak, of friendship and love, of hope and forgiveness, and of courage and strength to find happiness again.   There so much love in this book especially at the end of the story where Sarah and Edward finally declare their love for each other.  I am giving this book 5 stars and I highly recommend this to all book lovers.

I sure hope Taryn comes out with more books.

A kind thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for an advanced copy for an honest review.

The Missing Wife by Sam Carrington is due out June 27, 2019 I highly recommend it.  It was an awesome read, I could not put it down it had be from the beginning to the end.  I felt the author did a wonderfully eerie job at bringing these people to life. I would really like how she made the character out to be good and then I would really hate them. Everyone was a suspect here.  I love how the plot was written and how it all came together.

This book had twist and twist and kept me wanting more. I am now on the lookout for her other novels:
